Configuring a Chinese Desfire Card Reader

The following Guide details how to configure a blank Chinese Desfire Card reader to work with a set of Programmed Desfire Cards.
In order to program the reader, you will require the following.

* A Desfire Card Programmer
* A brand new Chinese Desfire Reader with blank programming card
* The Chinese Desfire Reader Master Card programming software
* A P.C. Running Windows

Step 1 - Open the Desfire Reader Master Card Programmer software.

Step 2 - Connect the Desfire Programmer to the PC USB Port

Windows will download the USB Device drivers to allow you to connect to the Device
Once the drivers are installed, click on the [Connect] button to connect the Programmer using the software.

Step 3 - Click on the [Connect] Button on the Software screen to connect to the programmer

Once the Programmer is connected to the software,
* The software will show "Reader Open Success" in the result screen
* The Programmer will beep once indicating it is connected

Step 4 - Ensure the Desfire Master Card Parameters are Correct

Ensure that the following parameters are correct
Catalogue ID: 10 01
File ID: 1
Gemni ID: 2

Step 5 - Setting the Desfire Reader Key
In order for the Desfire reader to read programmed desfire cards, the reader must be configured with the same programmed key as the Desfire card(s).

Set the Corresponding Desfire Reader Key that you want to program the reader to use, in the Card Gamni field.
The key value entered should be 16 Hexadecimal characters.

In the example above, the key is “JustSmartHomes”
This key is then converted from ASCII to Hexadecimal to become
"4A 75 73 74 53 6D 61 72 74 48 6F 6D 65 73"

Because this key value is only 14 Hexadecimal digits long, the remaining digits are then padded with 00 to become
“4A 75 73 74 53 6D 61 72 74 48 6F 6D 65 73 00 00”
NOTE: ANSII strings can be converted to Hexadecimal (and vice versa) using online tools such as
https://www.binaryhexconverter.com/asci ... -converter

Step 6 - Programming the Reader Master Card
Using the Card / Tag that was supplied with the Reader, place the Reader Master Tag on top of the Programmer, and click on the [Making Card] button.
When Complete, the Programmer will beep once, and the software will display ""
