The control path
Wired Palladiom keypad → powered QS link and HomeWorks QSX processor → LQSE-4S5-230-D switching module → ordinary light. The application processor belongs in this design; a keypad and a relay module alone are not the complete programmed HomeWorks system.
A specific dealer quote request
- HQP7-1 HomeWorks QSX one-link processor, with its link configured for wired QS devices. Lutron’s processor specification identifies the model and required power supply. AUD/USD: dealer quote.
- QSPS-DH-1-75-H processor/link power supply, with regional approval and the complete PDU/power budget checked by the designer. Include any extra link supply the final design requires rather than assuming the processor powers itself from Ethernet. AUD/USD: dealer quote.
- HQWT-S-P2W-WH-E Palladiom two-button, square-style white keypad, specified as a complete finished keypad with engraving and suitable mounting box. The official model-number guide distinguishes a complete square-style unit from a base without faceplate; a bare base is not a complete wall control. AUD/USD: dealer quote.
- LQSE-4S5-230-D switching module via Avation — 220–240 V, four switched zones, 5 A per zone with a 16 A maximum input, subject to the load specification. It does not dim. AUD/USD: dealer quote.
- SAL Wave S9065TCWH complete LED downlight — AUD 10.60 / USD 7.31, Australian retail including GST. Includes its ordinary LED driver, flex and plug; a compliant ceiling socket/connection and installation are still needed. This is not a DALI driver or a smart lamp.
- The appropriate low-voltage/lighting enclosure or panels, power distribution/protection, mounting boxes, QS cable, Ethernet commissioning connection and safe lamp connection. Include a dealer's licensed/software-authorised commissioning service and project handover. AUD/USD: project quote.
Prices and purchasing
Avation lists HomeWorks processors and regional switching modules, but the public portal shows “Your account is not yet active” rather than usable public prices. Obtain a quote from Avation's dealer channel or a local authorised integrator. The only sourced numerical allowance here is the ordinary lamp: AUD 10.60 / USD 7.31. That is a lamp cost, not a system subtotal. No credible complete AUD or USD package total was available from those public pages, so none is invented.
An additional check of RGB Communications’ UK listing for the exact LQSE-4S5-230-D found real model/specification information but no public price. Rosette Electrical’s QSPS-DH-1-75-H listing explicitly supplies the PSU as part of a designed/commissioned Lutron system by quotation. These regional-voltage sources add buying routes, not a defensible numeric allowance. Used/surplus listings and differently prefixed QSNE modules have not been substituted into this HomeWorks BOM to manufacture a total.
Do not convert a cheap US Pico/Caséta bundle into AUD and call it an Australian HomeWorks package. Even when the mains voltage matches, system families, regional RF frequencies and commissioning access can differ. Marketplace and auction listings can also omit the power supply, wallplate or commissioning rights/support.
Wiring and skills
QS uses the prescribed low-voltage power conductors and shielded twisted-pair data cable; it is not ordinary Ethernet. Ethernet Cat5e connects the programming/network side of the processor, not the keypad's QS terminals. The specification sets conductor sizes by length and power budget, so do not make a generic “Cat5e everywhere” cable allowance. The switching module and fitting need normal mains wiring and professional installation.
Commissioning is high-complexity/dealer-led: device activation, keypad functions, processor configuration, output assignment and a documented project backup. Lutron's processor specification requires Lutron Designer 16.x or later; actual current support and access must be confirmed with the integrator. The software is not an assumed free end-user entitlement.
Expansion
The processor, supplies and keypad are shared infrastructure, with spare relay zones for later circuits within ratings. Per-light expansion is not the same as whole-system upfront cost. Wireless repeaters, Clear Connect Type X gateways, app/remote integrations, dimming outputs and shades are different optional design choices; they are not hidden requirements of this particular wired one-light path.
Literal wiring types for the cost plan
Control: Lutron-specified QS cable with DC power conductors plus shielded twisted-pair data; commissioning/network: Cat5e Ethernet; lighting: mains-rated cable. Generic Cat5e is not assumed suitable for QS power distribution.
Price basis and safety
Prices were checked on 8 November 2026 (Australia/Sydney), not obtained as quotations. Currency equivalents use the RBA rates for 6 November 2026: AUD 1 = USD 0.6900 = EUR 0.6161. Converted figures are not US/Australian retail offers or landed import prices. Tax treatment is stated beside the source price; shipping, duties, extra tax on imports, wiring, labour and commissioning services are excluded. Site-specific enclosures, backboxes, connectors and circuit protection must be allowed for where listed, not treated as free. Australian fixed mains work requires a licensed electrician. These are researched examples, not hardware-tested installations.
